Jacquard weaving is a traditional skill originating in Lyon and has been passed down to us from generation to generation for several centuries. Jacquard weaving began with Joseph-Marie Jacquard, who, in 1801 invented and patented the so-called “Jacquard” technique which automated the production of the pattern by using punched cards.
